Stealing Cinderella

Earlier this week, Devon called me on his way to work to ask me if I had heard the song "Stealing Cinderella" by, new artist, Chuck Wicks. Evidently, US 95.7 was interviewing Chuck Wicks who was talking about this song he had written, "Stealing Cinderella," about the day he had asked his girlfriend's dad for her hand in marriage. When the interview was over, they played the song.

I was surprised that he was listening to Country Music, rather than Talk Radio, but told him "no" I hadn't heard that song. He went on to tell me how much he liked the song and said it reminded him of when he asked me to marry him. Later that day, I downloaded the song off of itunes and as I listened to it my throat started to swell and my eyes started to fill up with tears. Before I knew it I was blubbering like a baby!

Part of the song is about being in their home and looking at pictures of this woman from when she was a little girl. Moments of happiness and joy in that little girls life. Times of pillow fights, running through the sprinklers, riding her first bike, and so on.

All of us have pictures in our home of our children that we love to display and show off. They bring back memories from years that have passed that will always bring us joy when we look at them and remember back.

Luke's in Preschool

Yes, it's hard to believe, but the day has finally arrived and Luke is in Preschool! He started about two weeks ago and, now, Tuesdays and Thursdays are my favorite day of the week! On those days, while Blake naps, I actually get to have quiet conversations with myself in my head and nobody else! I never thought this day would come, but it has, and I love it! Most important of all, Luke LOVES preschool and wishes he could go every day!

What Am I Going To Do?

Poor girl! No matter what we do or what size pants she wears, we are constantly telling her to pull her pants up. They just won't stay up. She has no bum! Last week, at school, her teacher told her that the next time she wore "that" skirt that she needed to wear a belt. I think we have tried the belt thing and it just doesn't matter. Is she forever doomed to have her bum hanging out?

Famous In a Small Town

It's not too often that our quiet neighborhood is one of the front headlines in the news. However, today was the exception. A man decided to land his bush plane in a nearby field across from where he worked. Neighbors immediately started calling 911 thinking the plane was crashing or making an emergency landing. One man, who lives in a home next to the lot, saw the plane landing and thought the pilot would need help. He immediately ran out of his home to make sure the pilot was o.k. He asked the pilot what he was doing and the pilot said he owned the lot and thought it would be a good place to park it while he went to work. Little did the pilot know that the man had already called 911 and the police were on their way. The pilot probably would have gotten away with his story if the media hadn't caught wind of this and become involved. Evidently, the media found out that the pilot DOES NOT own the lot and had no reason to land his plane. It sounds like he made up some phony story to the police officer on site saying that his engine was acting funny, but when investigated--it looked fine. The FAA will not allow him to move his plane and so, for now, it is stuck on the dirt lot around the corner from our house. We think this is funny because if we lived in Cedar City, this would never be investigated and no one would think twice about it, but this IS San Diego.

Devon's Birthday with The Big Dog Daddy!

You can now hear our favorite patriotic Love Song on my blog: "The Taliban Song." Devons 30th Birthday was on Sunday and it was a blast! It's very rare that we get to go out, let alone, two nights in a row! Saturday, we celebrated out at his favorite restaurant Flemings and Sunday (yes, I know, Sunday) we went Toby Keith's Big Dog Daddy Concert. Toby Keith was incredible!!! He looked incredible, sounded incredible....the whole thing was just, what can I say, Awesome! Besides, there is just something sexy about a man in a half unbuttoned shirt and a cowboy hat singing.

It's hard to believe that Devon is 30 and my big day is only less than two months away! Devon is the greatest and I thought it would only be appropriate to make a birthday dedication to him in a Big Dog Daddy Way!
Devon and I absolutely love Toby Keith, so it was only appropriate that we celebrate Devon's birthday with him. My birthday dedication for Devon is the "Taliban Song" since it was the only one of Devon's favorites that he didn't hear. The words alone don't do this song all the justice it deserves, but this will have to do. Happy Birthday, Devon! You are the most patriotic person I know so it is only fitting to salute you on this day with a special Patriotic Love Song!I love you!

Dear Kimberly,

From now on, your trips will be so much more enjoyable when you bring a book, such as the "Twilight", by Stephanie Meyer, to read. It will captivate your attention and make the drive go by so much faster! However, once you read the first book, you will not be able to wait to read the second and third and convince your husband how extremely important it is that you buy the next two books right away! Little did you know that your husband would become just as intrigued and excited to read these books along with you as you begin to tell him the storyline and read them aloud on the drive. You will stay up late every night reading together and not be able to put the book down! Also, when your husband makes you ride the Four Wheeler, you will, at first, scream in fear, but then have the time of your life driving it all around. It will make you wish you lived in a place where your kids could grow up driving these through your backyard and over to their friends house to play.
Just so you know, a 14 month old will notice when he doesn't get to ride the 4-wheeler as much as his brother and sister and will get very upset when it's not his turn. AND, he will not want to come inside and will prefer playing outside all day!

Surprisingly, Taylor will love riding the 4-wheeler and scream "faster daddy, faster!"
While you are outside, you will not notice how beautiful the scenery is until after you have taken the pictures and view them once you've returned home.

Luke will love the thrill of the ride and cry every time he has to get off to give someone else a turn!
You will feel somewhat homesick every time you are in Utah and feel constantly reminded of not living close to family and think of all that you are missing out on.

There is nothing like watching a rainstorm out in the distant sky over the moutains. That is something you never see in California!

When your husband wants to visit the Mountain Meadows monument, try to act thrilled and happy to be a part of this expedition, rather than feeling like you have been driven to HELL!
The drive to HELL will be made up for when you enjoy a delicious lunch at a Hibachi Steakhouse.
And, some ice cream at Cold Stone!
But, most of all, you will feel so proud and happy to have finally learned how to use your most recent, favorite toy...a Vinyl Plotter! You will make your first sign with Vinyl Lettering cut out from your very own machine and feel very excited and proud! Your sister-in-law you made it for will love it and you will be very anxious to get your hands on more projects to make more! People can now feel confident coming to you for all their Vinyl Lettering needs!

Nice Award!

I have been in Cedar City for the last 5 days and, while away, I had about 10 minutes to spend on my favorite past time, blogging, and noticed that my cousin, Christie awarded me with the "Nice Matters Award." This was such a surprise! If you haven't already checked out Christie's blog, you should! Her blogs are always quick-witted and humorous to read. I love participating in things such as this and now get to nominate three people of my own. Drum roll, please....

1. I nominate my best friend, and sister, Robyn. Her tenacity and exuberance for life are hard to compete with. When you are Robyn's friend you are a friend for life! There is no one nicer to be around, or to be friends with than Robyn.

2. I nominate my very good friend, Melissa. She is constantly thinking of others before herself and is always upbeat and positive. When I think of nice, I think of Melissa.

3. I nominate Ansku. Ansku is from Finland and moved to the U.S., with her husband, after they were married. If that's not nice, I don't know what is! Ansku is also one of Robyn's best friends and is always so thoughtful and kind.
