Here are some life lessons we learned along the way...
- Don't EVER book a hotel room 1 mile away from Invesco Field with plans of walking to the stadium at 4am! Upon your arrival you will seriously wonder why you valued saving money to rent a car over your personal safety. Thank goodness for thoughtful in-laws who allow you to borrow their car so you don't have to worry about getting mugged at 4am.
- Take an extra pair of comfortable shoes to wear while waiting in line...5-7 hours to be exact! Even if the camera captured you, at a glance, it probably wouldn't see your shoes anyway.
- Be prepared to make new friends who swear you have the best singing voice they've ever heard and vow to be your best friend for life.
- Also, take ear plugs to avoid having to listen to your new friends sing for you, while waiting in line, over and over and over again.
- Know how to tell a good lie when someone asks you to compliment them on their horrific singing skills.
- Always walk through downtown Denver whenever there to visit. The shopping is quaint and super fun!
- Don't plan on getting any sleep in your hotel room. You will be kept up almost all night by sounds of others practicing and singing in the hallways.
- Make sure to ask Chris Daughtry for his autograph while riding on the shuttle with him...he will be one of the biggest stars of the season!
- Just sing your heart out and have fun even though there are practically thousands auditioning at the same time.
- Try not to snap at your BFF and sister when the process is over. Rather, realize you are both really, really tired and anxious to get home.
- Last, but not least, don't EVER wear your new pink American Idol t-shirt in the airport because it will make annoying boys think you want to sing your heart out to them and everyone else in the lobby.

I think it's really wrong that I've never heard you sing and Simon Cowell has. Please come sing for me. Please??!!!
Those are such great memories. I'm sure it is something you'll never forget. I thought it was so cool when I found out you did that. I would not have the guts. Maybe you guys should go for it again.
Those pictures are so funny. We thought we were such hot stuff. I still feel bad when I think about what a brat I was to you...sleep deprivation makes me so ornery! At least you love me anyway! And who knew? I was pregnant! Such a fun memory! What about almost NOT making it to the airport after your niece choked on a screw?
Who swallowed a screw?!?!? Riley??
To bad you guys didn't make it because then I would have actually watched the show.
Just checking in on your blog- and what good timing! I am so proud of you for doing that. What a blast!
I'm so glad the two of you have this experience to remember forever. What a fun time! I had to laugh reading about the swallowed screw! Such trauma!! I wonder if Chris Daughtry remembers you. If you had been blogging then, you would have taken a picture!
Hey,
That is so cool that you and Robyn did that. It reminds me of you trying out for guitars unplugged at Ricks. That was so fun having a famous roomate! Oh, I was thinking about coming to women's conference for real and looking into plane tickets. Let me know if you're still interested. RO's all for me going and he's watching the kids-so Utah here I come. Oh, I lost your number again. Give me a call or send yours through e-mail. Sorry I always loose your number.
So, I take it they allow people older than 28 to audition now? Glad you had fun!
It's one of those experiences you'll remember forever. Most people wouldn't go to the effort...well..I guess a few do...But way to go to have the guts to audition!! (P.S. I think you have an AMAZING voice...!)
Too fun!! They don't know they missed out on two hot Babes!
Scott and I love that show. I wish I could have heard you sing.
That is so awesome that y'all really tried out! Way to go!
Too bad I couldn't have gone with you. That's all you would've needed. I wonder who's worse when stressed out, me or Robyn...
I remember Robyn telling me about that trip! You guys are the cutest sisters I've ever seen!
holy cow you guys are brave. I would never in a million years done that! But then again, I probably sing nothing like you two. Way to be brave, and I LOVED the story. How fun! And Becky and I thought we were brave walking around Vegas by ourselves. HA. You win!
I can't imagine being brave enough to do that, but than again I give a whole new sound to singing it's horrifying. I wish you guys would have made it, but what a fun memory!
How fun that you guys did that! I love love love American Idol! Don't know if I love the new girl judge though. She kinda seem's full of herself.
We know two people on this years American Idol who we know make it to the top 25. After that we don't know what happens. We'll have to watch and see. They are both from our little community - Rancho Penasquitos. One graduated from Mt. Carmel with our daughter Kira and the other is a senior from Westview and has gone to school with Alex since middle school. Crazy eh?!
