Since When Do You Need the Beach for a Bonfire?

Today has been quite the eventful day! It started out with 3 hours of swimming at the pool with MANY friends from the ward. I would have taken pictures, but there were a lot of kids and a lot of chaos! Then, later on in the day, I took Luke to his first day of Soccer...which he totally loved!

Of course, no day would be complete without a bonfire in the backyard! We made smores for camp night at YW's a couple of weeks ago and Devon has had bonfire fever ever since! He decided that tonight was the night. He had dreams of making a larger fire, but was worried the neighbors would call the fire department...so he made it smaller. After this first picture, he decided the flame needed to be bigger for the camera and added more tinder to the flame!
Oh, baby! Look at that fire-roasted marshmallow! Does that look good or what? Hopefully Luke didn't learn any fire-making tips from this bonfire session! Luke and Fire do not sound like a good mix!
This was Taylor and Luke's first time eating smores and they LOVED IT! Taylor kept saying, "Mom, they are soooooo great!"

I'm impressed with Devon's bonfire building skills...we definitely need to do a bonfire while we're there in A FEW WEEKS!!!! Did Taylor really say "they're are so good?" HA HA... Love ya!

ha ha ha ha ha You two are funny! I love the bon fire, it makes me miss out last house in the farm lands. We had a huge fire pit in the backyard and the neighbors were so far away no one would have cared if we built it HUGE! I miss camping.....Okay lets plan a huge family reunion....somewhere CAMPING! Yeah! doesn't that sound fun?

Its funny how resourceful and creative Devon is. He's kind of like the family version of MacGyver. Awesome fire pit!!

Kimberly you are so talented and do so many fun things with the kids. I remember smores. I used to think they were the best treat ever. It's fun to have Aimee on the blogwagon. I sure love the pictures!

That's awesome. If Devon likes fire stuff, he should see Jeff blow his fireball sometime.

So where was Blake during the whole bonfire thing? I imagine you had Blake in one arm and your camera in the other!

Ahhh...smores! Sounds good. I'm glad Devon kept the fire small. When you told me about it, I pictured you guys having a huge, stacked wood fire! Maybe when we come in a few weeks we should just have the bonfire in your backyard!

Kimberly! I love your blog and all the candid stories you share. You have the cutest kids. You and Devon seem like you have lots of fun with your kids (even though I know it must be kind of crazy sometimes!) I hope Mark and I have as much fun with ours...Sydney is fascinated with smores...probably because there is no where in AZ that we would be allowed to build a real fire. One night for FHE we tried to roast them over the open flame on our grill and she had a blast. However, she keeps begging to make a real fire (probably because she saw it on TV or something!)
