Greetings from Fontana!
We are no longer inhaling smoke and floating embers of ash. At 6am, this morning, we received a mandatory call to evacuate our home. We are experiencing hurricane winds which are enabling the fire and causing it to move fervently through the area. Last night, the fire jumped I-15 and sparked in Rancho Bernardo. Rancho Bernardo, 4S Ranch, Rancho Santa Fe, Del Sur, Poway, Penasquitos, Carmel Valley, Del Mar, and Solana Beach have all been evacuated. It was like leaving Armageddon as we packed up our car with all of our valuables, clothes, and food and drove the hell out of dodge. Rather than joining the rest of the county at Qualcomm Stadium, we chose to join family in Fontana. Hopefully, we can go home tomorrow...I will keep you updated!

Glad you found somewhere other than Qualcomm. That was really weird to have to leave like that. We are staying in San Clemente. Some people that are on vacation our letting us use their house. I sure hope we can go home soon but that air is nasty.
I'm so glad you guys are safe. Hopefully they can get that fire contained and keep people's homes clear.
Are you sure you don't want to move to St. Louis? You'd be close to your mom and dad...and the only fires here are the ones in your fireplace! :-)
Hang in there, kiddo.
Kimberly! I have been thinking of you guys and hoping that you wouldn't have to be evacuated! I am so sorry...how chaotic! Keep us posted!
I am glad you were able to get out of Dodge before you had to leave everything and just grab the kids. This is so surreal to me. I do look forward to your blogs. I am sure that the air was really bad.
CRAZY!!!! Maybe it's a sign that San Diego isn't the paradise you thought it was...you need to move to UTAH! Just kidding...I really hope everything's OK. What the heck would you do if your house burned down? Love ya!
We'll pray for you guys... Glad to hear that you guys are ok.
I hope you get to go home tomorrow, too. At least if nothing happens to your home, it'll be like mini vacation, and Devon doesn't have to ask for this time off.
I hope you guys are ok. That is really scary especially since you have kids and work commitments and all. (My Grandparents had to evacuate from Fallbrook, but their house is ok...we heard). I can't even imagine wondering if you are going to come home to the stuff we have seen on the news. Mark commented that it seems like So. Cal has more fires than Phoenix???
Wow! Keep safe and we'll be thinking of you guys. Keep us posted on what happens!
Actually, Qualcomm sounds like it's quite a great place to be during this time. Thanks to San Diego for showing the world how to step up to the plate when disaster strikes. We love you guys and hope things are ok when you get back home. Keep us posted. We love you!!
