Local Fire!

Earlier today, we had blue skies until about 2pm, we noticed that the air smelled smoky and looked outside and the sky was completely dark and gray. It is Santa Ana conditions, which means lots of wind and fires! Much of the nearby county is being evacuated from their homes and schools have been cancelled for tomorrow.
Devon decided it would be wise to fill up the car with gas in case we are evacuated tonight. Once outside, he noticed the ground looked wet, but when he looked closer, it was actually soot on the ground.
The air looks and smells like you are downwind of a beach bonfire. Hopefully, the wind changes direction or dies down so the firefighters can actually put this fire to rest!!

I really hope you don't have to leave your home! That would be horrible. What a crazy world... or should I say crazy nature!

I didn't realize just how close the fires are to you. They've been all over the news! Cool sooty picture!

I sure hope they get a handle on the situation soon. I remember being there during the fire season and wishing the winds would change and the air would clear up. I know it's bad...but the news makes it look even worse!! We were never actually evacuated though!!! Glad you are all safe and sound. Hopefully you can return home soon.

i am so glad that Devon prepared ahead of time so you could leave and not be too panicked. I just can't believe all of the soot all over. I watch the news and I am so amazed at the destruction that fire can cause in such a short time. I am glad to know that you are safe
