It all began 13 years ago...It was our Junior year in High School, and, while sitting in History class, Ibegan chatting with Devon about the upcoming swing lesson activity at the church and invited him to go. I was so attracted to his happy-go-lucky attitude, smile, sense of humor, as well as his breathtaking blue eyes that I couldn't wait to dance with him that night. That night, we never exchanged partners and have been side by side and heart to heart ever since. In High School we attended both Proms together and graduated together....

After graduation we spent the entire summer at the beach...I don't think I have ever been so tan in my life!

It is hard to remember a time in my life without him. We loved listening to Chicago's Greatest Hits and would sometimes drive around in his red, 1988, Honda Prelude, listening to those songs over and over again. That is how "our" song became "You're the Inspiration."

We continued to date, long-distance, while I was at Ricks College. When I returned home to attend CSUF, we dated another year and a half and then got engaged!

Devon proposed after I returned home from a trip with my family to Washington, D.C. To propose, he sent me on a treasure hunt to find the ring. When I found the ring, I was really surprised, but really happy!

After a long, 6 1/2 month, engagement, an original engagement ring that was destroyed by the jeweler, and a tux that wasn't picked up (which I thought I would totally die if my husband-to-be didn't have a tux to take pictures in), somehow, everything came together and we were happily married on the most beautiful, gorgeous, sunny January 15th, 2000 day in the L.A. Temple.

It seems like every year that passes goes by faster and faster! And, yet, even after 5 years of dating my best friend, 8 years of marriage, 11 moves, 3 children, and all the trials and challenges that come with it, I continue to fall deeper and deeper in love with this man!

As a tribute to our time together, I chose a playlist for our blog that reflects our years and memories spent together. Nothing brings a memory more to life than one that is remembered with a song!

Happy Anniversary, Devo! I love you!

Oh you guys look SOOOO cute in those pictures!! What a nice looking couple you are! Happy Anniversary!! :)
You made me cry!!!! That is so sweet. I still remember all of these things and think that it is great that high school sweethearts are still going strong.
I loved reading your tribute and seeing the old pictures of you guys. How neat that you met when you were so young and made it last. Happy Anniversary! Let me know if you need a babysitter so you can go out somewhere special.
Congratulations on your anniversary! It's fun to see you and Devon through the years! I still remember you guys in high school... SO CUTE! You guys are adorable and you are amazing!
That was a great blog. I can't believe how tan you and Devon were either. Do you still have that picture on display in your house? Also, the Christmas you got that Mariah Carey CD was the Christmas I got the discman. I think there's a picture of you sitting in Grandma Hand's rocker listening to it...or was that a picture of me? Anyway, happy anniversary. It seems like you've been married for more than 8 years, but that's probably because I've known Devon for more than half of my life. Crazy. I'm glad you didn't break up with him that night that I told you to. He's still the biggest baby I know...
I'm such a baby...this blog totally made me cry! Has it really been 13 years since you started dating? I remember walking with Devon around the track during 6th period (he was in baseball, I was in track) talking about you! I was so excited for my sister to start dating such a cool guy. It's hard to remember MY life without him. Your relationship was always one I wanted to mirror in my own marriage. Happy Anniversary!
Wow....talk about a walk down memory lane! I cried while reading this too. It seems like it was just yesterday that you had all those chocolate kisses spread throughout your bedroom with the sign saying "Now that I've kissed the ground you walk on, will you go to prom with me?" Happy Anniversary! We are so happy you have each other!
Awww, how cute you guys looked back in the day!!
I have to leave another comment........the music is awful in the best way. I can't believe some of the music we used to listen to, so crazy.
Oh Kimberly you really know how to melt down a person. I just love the way you and Devon are with each other and you can really accomplish anything that you wish to do because of the love that you have for one another HAPPY ANNIVERSARY.
Kim this is the sweetest post ever!! Your photos are just gorgeous and I loved reading your love story!! I can't believe I moved before you and Devon even started dating! Or did I? I moved to UT in Oct. of '93... Anyhow I'm glad you checked out my blog too and I had to laugh about you having to look for a picture of me to see who I am. I definitely post more pictures of my kiddos than myself. :o) This will be fun to keep in contact through blog-land. :o)
Wow, that is some tan you both had going! I love that you have been together since high school and avoided the drama of long years of fruitless painful dating! Such a nice tribute...makes me all weepy.
