It's not too often that our quiet neighborhood is one of the front headlines in the news. However, today was the exception. A man decided to land his bush plane in a nearby field across from where he worked. Neighbors immediately started calling 911 thinking the plane was crashing or making an emergency landing. One man, who lives in a home next to the lot, saw the plane landing and thought the pilot would need help. He immediately ran out of his home to make sure the pilot was o.k. He asked the pilot what he was doing and the pilot said he owned the lot and thought it would be a good place to park it while he went to work. Little did the pilot know that the man had already called 911 and the police were on their way. The pilot probably would have gotten away with his story if the media hadn't caught wind of this and become involved. Evidently, the media found out that the pilot DOES NOT own the lot and had no reason to land his plane. It sounds like he made up some phony story to the police officer on site saying that his engine was acting funny, but when investigated--it looked fine. The FAA will not allow him to move his plane and so, for now, it is stuck on the dirt lot around the corner from our house. We think this is funny because if we lived in Cedar City, this would never be investigated and no one would think twice about it, but this IS San Diego.

I didn't have the sound turned on on my computer, but is "Famous In A Small Town" playing? I don't think San Diego is a small town, but maybe Rancho Penasquitos is... Anyway, if you're lucky, you could make the national news...like a few months ago when absolutely nothing in the country was going on, so they had a helicopter watching the removal of a horse stuck in the mud in Texas on CNN and Fox News...but I guess that's better than Paris, Nicole, and Lindsay 24/7.
Oh, that is just too funny. You should send Devon and the boys out there to play in the plane. That's totally what my boys would try to do.
That is really weird. What a strange guy to think he could land his plane just anywhere! We missed you at the beach today. Amanda was there and it was weird to see her after so long. She was asking where you were too. Hope you had a nice Saturday doing something fun.
That is funny....Devon's probably already gone to see the plane, huh? Did you know this was going on at the time, or did you just find out about it later?
We actually went over to see the plane before I did this post. We took our camera and everything all ready to take our pictures with the plane and then we tried to take a picture and the memory card wasn't in the camera. Devon really wants to go back to take a picture, but the plane may or may not still be there.
How funny is that?! Planes can't just land anywhere! I wonder what this guy was up to. Sounds suspicious if you ask me.
I have been watching to many Spy Epics on our NEW DIGITAL TV AND I FEEL WE HAVE REALLY GROWN UP IN THE WORLD. Maybe they will come and interview you about the incident. Love ya
