Our Easter morning began at 5am. Taylor woke up for a drink and on her way back to bed stepped on an Easter Egg (left by the Easter bunny) and, from then on, was TOO excited to go back to sleep. For 2 1/2 hours, she kept coming into our room asking us if it was time to wake up. Finally, at 8am, everyone was awake and she could follow the easter egg trail, downstairs, to see what treasures the Easter Bunny left behind.
It was fun watching the kids hunt for their eggs and play with their new toys. After breakfast, Taylor colored at the table, while I cleaned up. Earlier in the week I had been painting and left a can of paint on the kitchen table. To make a long story short, I was making room for Taylor to color and forgot about the can of paint on the table and accidentally bumped the can and it spilled ALL OVER EVERYTHING! The paint splashed all over my curtains, table, chairs, floor, and flooded into a box that I had packed with old VHS movies and DVD's. Devon and I spent the next hour (or so) cleaning up a gallon of spilled paint and throwing away ruined movies and DVD's. Good thing we don't really watch VHS anymore and thank goodness for iPods.
Our church starts at 12:30 and at 11:45, the kids hadn't bathed and I had paint all over my arms, legs, EVERYWHERE! I finally rushed the kids upstairs to take a bath, got them dressed, and just as soon as Luke was dressed, he went downstairs to see what Devon was up to (in his new Easter clothes) and stepped in paint and got it on his new pants. He came upstairs for me to help him and I started to cry. As soon as I started to cry, he started to cry. I told him he wasn't in trouble and I was crying because I was having a bad day, not because I was mad at him. Devon and I hurried and showered and got dressed and we made it to church 20 minutes late!
This has definitely been an Easter to remember!!!

Dad told me about your bad day. For your kids' well being, I'm glad it was you that knocked the paint on the floor and not them. What a way to start out your Easter. I hope that the rest of the day wasn't too bad. You all looked really good at church. Did you clean the paint off of Luke's new pants? Happy Easter!
Also, was Taylor wearing a Placentia Earth Day Run shirt?
Oh, I would have DIED. What a horrible morning. The paint would have just sent me over the edge. You poor thing. From the looks of your pictures, you would never have known.
Sheesh, I would have been crying the minute the paint spilled. It seems you handled it well though. It made me chuckle that Blake started to cry when you cried. I love the saying..."if mom aint happy, aint nobody happy!" Its so true! Happy Easter!
So sorry about the bad Easter Day!!! I would have been totally frazzled with all the paint everywhere. The kids look so cute though and I love all the easter clothes.
This was sure a "Readers Digest" version of your morning! How in the world did ever pull it together and write a cute post about it! You're amazing!!!
Kim and Devon, you both seem to make the best of the very worst situations.
Someday you'll look back and be so glad you don't have to repeat any part of your trials... you do get new ones, but you will have learned they too will pass.
Really cute family!!
I don't know how you get ready so fast and still look so good! Your dress is REALLY cute! I love that Taylor sleeps in t-shirts like we used to. That's really CRAPPY about the paint, but I'm glad you survived. I like the music to go with the post!
I felt so bad for your reading that post. Paint is so awful when it spills. Then to have it on Luke's clothes right before church would just be the clincher. You guys look so great though. I'm sorry for all your movies too. That is just rotten.
What a cute family! I love your family picture! I envisioned a picture like that for my family, but with all boys, no one cooperates and it turns into a big deal. Plus I can't get Max to sit still or look at the camera. And so sorry to hear about the paint incident! I think I would've been more than crying!! And you look at the happy picture and never would've guessed you had such a hectic morning!!
Oh that is the most adorable family photo!! Reminds me of the family photos we used to take after church on Sunday's when we lived in So. Cal. The weather just seems to always be gorgeous! I'm so sorry about the paint disaster! You tell great stories though!
Wow, an Easter to remember and later, much later laugh about it. Love you a lot. Grandma H.
Wow, you sure all clean up really nice after such a crazy morning! Blake looks especially blissful in his pajamas eating his candy. so cute!
