Yesterday, we decided to spend our final official day of summer in Salt Lake. Devon had some business to attend to and I jumped for joy at the idea of leaving our small town, for a day, and adventuring into the BIG CITY.
My heart sang as I started to feel the hustle and bustle of cars buzzing around us. Although our visit was short-lived, it was a blast!

While Taylor, Luke, and Blake played with their cousins Parker and baby Avery, I got to hang out with my favorite sister, Robyn! Oh, there's nothing like a sister. I arrived unshowered and with no makeup and knew she wouldn't care.

After our short visit, we spent the second half of the day with my favorite BYU student, and brother, Michael. The kids splashed and splashed and had a blast at Seven Peaks.

Michael is such a cute Uncle. No picture would be complete without a traditional "thumbs up" Michael style!

We played until the kids eyes were red from chlorine, their stomachs were full of "community" play water, and they were exhausted enough to fall asleep on the way home. It was a great way to spend our last day of summer!
This morning, Taylor started the 1st grade! She was nervous and cried a bit. I held back my own tears to be strong for her. However, once she sat down in her seat and made some friends she was ready to start her day. I just can't believe my baby is in the 1st grade...amazing!

Your pictures look amazing. What a change to go from San Diego to Po-Dunk, UT.
And CAN YOU BELIEVE our girls are in 1st grade? I cannot.
Taylor looks darling and really older. Glad you got out of your ghetto city for awhile. Did you guys see Molly? I gave her your address. I helped her vacuum yesterday and send her off. I can't handle one more person moving. I love Seven Peaks. By the way, there has been more drama since I talked to you. I will have to talk to you soon.
How fun! Cute post!
First graders...are so cute! Having a cousin to be in first grade at the same time is important!
Where's that mom of yours? She won a blog button...haven't heard from her! I need her email address so I can send it to her! Can you let her know for me!
What a fun quick trip to Salt Lake! Your pictures are all so cute. A first grader huh? Crazy how all of a sudden they are school age. It is sure an adjustment (at least for me!)
Taylor looks adorable! Isn't it sad how fast summer has gone. Carsten has been in school for like three weeks:( I am already counting down until his first break.
It was so fun having you...even for a few minutes! I wish I could've gone to Seven Peaks with you. Taylor looked cute for her first day of school! Love you!
Again, your kids are so cute! And yay for Taylor for being so brave on her 1st school day! I still remember my first day in school and it was pretty owerwhelming and even scary. They sure grow up way too fast...
You are in big trouble! Ahh- I know we're not family, but a visit to S.L. and you didn't call us? I am so sad. Looks like you had such a fun time! I can't believe Taylor is in first grade either. Glad she liked it she looks so beautiful!
I'm so glad you got to venture out into the "big city"! What a difference a change of scenery can make! Not to mention a sister's big hug!
I love the Seven Peaks pics! Looks like a blast!!!
And no joke on the water consumption huh? Kids seem to not have a problem swallowing pool water!
Yay Taylor!!! First grade is the best!! You're gonna LOVE it!
First grade? Now she is gone all day!! That was a hard adjustment for me with Hailey. Now she is going into 6th grade....last year of elementary school and I am having a bit of a cow.
Emi starts Kindergarten this year (the 26th) and I am overjoyed and dreading it at the same time....
I love spending time with my sis. It is always sad to know that life continues even when you want Vacation or Summer or whatever to last forever. Sisters are the best!!! (and brothers if I had one)
Comment on your "Directions" blog. It is worth it, but you know that. You still have so much, financially as well. You are very curagous. Comment on your "Love SLC" blog. My baby starts first grade on the 25th. I'm not stoked to see my babies grow up so fast either. The next year for us will be tough as well, but I sure don't want it to go by fast. Great pics Kimmie. I love you lots. Later.
Hi Kimberly, I've got a favor to ask of you. Maybe you'll have time to do it, maybe not. I need you to take a picture of your husband wearing a cool preisthood-looking, Jesus-style robe of some sort. I want him looking as though he is watching someone kneel and pray and he is standing behind them and reaching out to them. I'm entering an LDS art contest. I will ask your Dad and several others to do the same thing. Best picture will be used. Tell him to look all wise and knowing and stuff-k. Hope you've both got the time for such a silly and weird request. Thanks either way. Love ya. Later
Sorry Robyn, I forgot to tell you my deadline is Oct 10, so the sooner the better. You can email pics or post on your blog and I'll get it from there. Thanks again.
Dang it all! I meant Kimberly. I've been to a lot of blogs today.
What a way to end the summer!! I love Seven Peaks when I was young, I think my kids might like it I will have to plan a trip!!
Taylor looks so DARN cute!! My kids are VERY excited to start school we have six days til they go back!! :)
Remember how I look naked standing behind Luke in that picture? I'm glad we got to hang out and go to "the Peaks."
That is so great that you were able to spend the day with your family! It looks like you guys had a fabulous time:) We haven't ever been to Seven Peaks before...we may have to give that a try, how fun!!!
That looks like so much fun! My oldest starts 1st grade on the
18th & I can't believe that he is going to be gone ALL DAY! Ah, what am I going to do? Anywhoo, so what podunk city do you live in anyways?
Time is flying by much too soon and there is so much to do. What a wonderful way to end summer. Taylor is SOOOO ready for school and you will enjoy when she comes home and shares her day with you. Take it from me savor every moment with them. I sure do love the pictures.
I can't believe I haven't commented on this post yet. I've looked at it so many times, I though I had. It's funny how good it feels to me when you all get to hang out together. I'm so glad you are so close. I wish I could have been there too. Guess I'll just have to settle for being happy that you are all able to see each other more now.
Our Tay has just grown up too fast! I can't wait to hear about all she is learning and doing.
Hey Kimberly - what a fun day. I can't believe that taylor is in 1st grade. What a sweet heart! and I'm sure everyone tells you she looks just like you. (smile)
You are so right, no picture would be complete without Michaels thumbs up. (smile)
Love ya
I was totally kidding about not calling us I was just giving you a hard time! I completely understand with so much family to visit there just isn't enough time.
Anyways if you are ever up this way again and have time, maybe we can go grab something to eat. We know this great Polynesian place!
A first grader? Yowsas! And let's make a pact: how about we move to Salt Lake together. Well, maybe not together but how about at the same time? :-)
How fun to have a 1 day mini-vacation! Taylor looks so beautiful and grown up in her picture!!
Cute pictures! Seven Peaks looks so fun! I remember going there when I was growing up. That's great that you live close enough to your sister now that you can make a day trip to see her. I'm glad we got to see you guys for a little bit when we were down in Cedar!
Alycia lives in SLC now. She is attending the Univeristy of Utah and LOVES it! She loves the school and loves being in a big city. She's a city girl like you!!!
