First Grade Moments

After substituting a first grade class on Friday, here is what I heard, experienced, and observed:
  • "Heads Up 7-Up" is a terrific way to pass time when you have nothing else to fill time with!
  • Not only does my hubby like to pinch my back side and talk about my "boobies," but so do little perverted first grade boys! Geeze...first grade, can you believe it?!
  • Just as my sons turn everything they play with into a make-believe-gun, little first-grade boys turn every scrap of paper they cut out into make-believe-guns.
  • When a first-grader sneezes and splashes snot all over her artwork, she will show you it is ruined and expect you to fix it and make it all better.
  • Just the thought, of splashes of snot, will make you want to sanitize your hands over and over again.
  • First graders can be quite the cleptomaniacs! It is amazing how anything in the classroom can be discreetly snuck out of the classroom to play with at recess.
  • It is so sweet when little ones fall instantly in love with you, want to hold your hand at recess, give you hugs, and become your best friend.
  • Hearing children say "Teacher, Teacher," is cute, but not as cute as hearing my own children say "Mama, Mama" after arriving home!

You're so funny. I have such fond memories of 1st grade, my teacher was Mrs. Topham, she was blump, slightly gray and loved us. She taught me how to draw animals using the basic shapes, and I still to this day draw animals that way. I don't remember getting snot all over everything though:) I don't even remember getting sick, but it seems today the first few weeks of school, everyone gets sick!! I also remember that we wore dresses to school all year around, I'm not sure how that worked on the monkey bars:) Where Taylor wears the cutest clothes and always has some kind of shorts underneath her dresses and shirts, wow, that makes a big difference in modesty. Love your cute blogg, MOM D

That was REALLY funny!!! I think it is so funny because Kennedy is in first grade and I can totally see some of her classmates doing all those things. I know that Kennedy would never do anything like that. HA HA HA!!!

I also wanted to tell you that your bows have been made and I will mail them out in the moring. Sorry I was going to try to mail them out before we left for the weekend but ran out of time. Once you get them let me know if you need any other colors.

The "Fit Me Pink" blog is a great idea. I would love to hear how to get into shape w/o doing some CRAZY diet (they so don't work for me) I would LOVE to lose like
30-50lbs. any ideas???

I have to say the one things I was blessed with was GOOD skin. Thank goddness. I have enough weight issues.:)

I can say Darcie hit the nail on the head with good skin, but oh so bad poundage. I will take the bad skin any day of the week!

I love first graders they love school and are so willing to please. I bet you make a great teacher; you always make everyone around you feel so comfortable.

I can't believe that little boy pinched your bum and talked about your boobies! Geez...1st graders are supposed to be sweet and innocent!

It sounds fun to me. I don't blame you for the sanitizer, I would douse myself in it all day. So cute.

That is so cute. Asha just started first grade, so I can just imagine. I know the kids are wishing they have you back again, soon.
I read Breaking Dawn a couple weeks ago. I liked it, but not as much as the rest of the books. The Volturi part was a little boring for me.

I am mailing you a gallon of Purell right now.

They start awful young with the perverted stuff now days. I am in my sons classroom all the time and I have never had anyone say anything about any part of anatomy... hopefully they just didn't. The school they go to is super strict but boys will be boys - and the sanitizer thing is a big deal with me - I carry it on my person at all times. I know I'm OCD but I hate buggars and spit!

Boogers, yum yum. I remember boogers everywhere from kindergarten thru till about third grade. I think that must be when most kids start becoming self concious. I also remember a kid in first grade wanting to show me his if I would show him mine. I said no. He showed me his anyway hoping I would change my mind. I didn't, my little girl friend and I sure laughed at him though. I wonder if he still remembers that.

You crack me up! What are you doing substituting first grade, anyway? Did you get a fourth job?

Oh, and just so ya know, I am working on the blog and it's coming along . . . thanks so much for all the help!! (Let me know if the background I chose is too much. I'm not sure if it's too hard to read the red. Thanks!)

That whole "butt & boobies" comment has gotten me nervous, my sweet little Jaden just started 1st grade! I don't want to ALREADY have to worry about that obsession beggining! I was hoping that I still had a few years!?!

That was hilarious! I used to volunteer in Annie's class atleast once a week...never a dull moment! Everytime I came home with SOMETHING interesting to discuss:)

Kids know way more than they should at that age!

I LOVE THIS LIST! It sounds like a list on David Letterman! TOO FUNNY!

I bet you were a well liked teacher. Good for you. That actually sounds like a fun adventure. Did the kids wet toilet paper in the bathroom and throw it at the ceiling? That is one of the disgusting things I remember doing at that age.

You remind me of Miss Weldy. Do you remember her? Remember how much you loved your gradeschool teachers? I'll bet you did a great job with those kids.

Ok, what don't you do! Wow, that is brave to substitute first grade! I can only see what I have to look forward to in a few years when Lukas is in first grade! Boys will be boys...as far as the guns and grabbing go! haha
