Have you heard the song "Johnny and June" by Heidi Newfield? She starts out by singing:
Oh, there's somethin' 'bout a man in black
makes me wanna drive a cadillac
roll the top back, and roll down to Jackson town...
Oh *sigh*, every time I hear this song it takes me back to my beloved men in black!
My first crush was Neil Diamond. Oh yes, that deep, sultry voice captivated me. I had every song from "The Jazz Singer" memorized and would imagine myself singing on my elementary school stage with him. My heart still flutters just thinking about it.

Second (and ongoing) crush, the one, the only...Bon Jovi! Every summer, during HS, I attended cheer camp at Pepperdine University and greatly anticipated the drive through Malibu just to see Bon Jovi's house. Again, heart fluttering! OH, and did I mention his performance on American Idol two seasons ago..."you wanna make a memory" *sigh* *sigh* *sigh*

Now, many of you may not be familiar with Man In Black #3...Dierks Bentley. What can I say, I have a thing for men that can sing, have great hair, look great in black, and (oh, yeah) did I say sing? This man can sing!!! I saw him in concert 2 days before giving birth to Blake. Who knows, maybe it was my totally out-of-whack-pregnancy-hormones, but he was H-O-T...HOT (with a sizzle)!

And, last, but not least...Dr. McDreamy! I can still remember watching "Can't Buy Me Love" over and over again in the 5th or 6th grade. Man, there is totally somethin' about this man in black...only less than 2 weeks until Grey's season premier (yay)!

Of course, this is all make believe AND there is only one
Man in Black for me! But, just for fun, who are (or were) your men in black?

Stephen Jenkins (Third Eye Blind). I think I went to four concerts. Tight leather black pants and a smoldering voice, got me paying for 50 buck tickets. I would have been a groupie if I could. We even threw red panties on the stage ("those little red panties, they passed the test.") BAD and fun times.
I don't have a "man" in black. There are some people I want to be, though, and they are Rivers Cuomo (Weezer) and Brandon Flowers (The Killers).
Oh, I totally share your McDreamy and Bon Jovi crush. DELICIOUS.
So I will have to agree with on all of yours. I think you are right about a man who can sing and who doesn't like a man in black!!
I am totally with you on McDreamy, I love "Can't buy me love" I have watched that movie so many times. He is the only reason I watch that show. I have always liked Dillon McDermott, he was on the Practice, but he did a little movie that I watched tons when I was younger "Jersey girl" and that is when I fell in love. I need to go and rent it!!! I always loved Christian Bale. Newsies, Little Women, and now Batman, Love him!!!!
I love Can't buy me love & I love McDreamy even more-Yummy! I also love me some Johnny Depp!
How could you go wrong with McDreamy? He is oh so good. But another favorite from my high school days is John Travolta; my family couldn't stand the sound of grease! However I just couldn't get enough.:)
This was too cute! I LOVE all the men you have on here! Just makes me hot thinking about it! LOL
That's funny you have a Neil Diamond love. We actually own The Jazz Singer and my husband seems to do a great impression of Neil. In fact his daily greeting is...Hello...
I can't tell you how many times my friends and I acted out Can't Buy Me Love. Especially the funky dance scene! You know which one I'm talking about!!
My man in black would have to be man in brown...brown leather that is...Tom Cruise in Top Gun...too hot baby! MMM MMM good!
I love Neil Diamond too and have been to a couple of concerts. I grew up listening to him because of my Dad. He has one unknown album that I fell in love with during one of my pregnancies. It's called Taproot Manuscript. Oh, and we watch the Jazz Singer every 4th of July!! I also had a thing for Tom Selleck when I was in highschool - Magnum PI (the show). I too like Bon Jovi, McDreamy (especially in Sweet Home Alabama & Made of Honor)& here's another for the list: Pierce Brosnan. I first liked him in Remington Steele (another PI show - what can I say?) and then as Bond!! He also was fantastic in Mama Mia the movie. Gosh, if I stay on here longer I may come up with more but those are the ones off the top of my head.
One of my TV crushes was Ricky Schroder from Silver Spoons. Whenever I played "house," I would pretend he was my husband. Wow, that was some time ago! My now day crush would have to McDreamy as well! I also just barely saw August Rush and I must say Jonathon Rhys Meyers is a little scrumptious!
Your so funny! I would have to say that mine is Chuck:)
Of course Johnny Cash is the original "Man In Black" but you guys are all too young to remember him, but you probably remember the smokin performance that Jaquin Phoenix did a few years back. Neil Diamond is right up there, I actually got to see him in concert, too good! You have some very good picks also!!
I'm with you there on all of them but Neil Diamond.
He might have gotten on my list if my mom hadn't ruined him for me.
when I was in I think 9th grade she & her best friend were obsessed with him.
They would drive around singing at the top of there lungs using anything they could find for microphones.
You know pretty much the same thing I do now to my daughter!!! =)
Thanks for stopping by my blog!
Oh man...I'm glad you got me hooked on Grey's Anatomy...McDreamy...woo hoo! I fell in love with Joe when I realized he could sing just like Neil Diamond. And don't forget...Edward Cullen!
I really have issues. My idols have not been movie or rock stars but news anchors. Jon Stewart, Anderson Cooper and Matt Lauer rock my world. :-)
Mmm, Bon Jovi :) My current celebrity crush is Matt Damon.
Thats funny about Neil Diamond. My sis and I got to go to his concert once. And yes, we knew ALL the words to Jazz Singer.
I have always loved Remington Steel-Pierce Brosnan. He has ALWAYS been handsome to me.
LOVED Kirk Cameron on Growing Pains.
Sean Astin (YOUNGER) from Goonies. He is NOT cute now.
Tim McGraw- "I like it, I love it, I want some more of it"
Sheesh, I could go on and on. Those are the first to come to mind though.
I remember going with my girlfriends to see Neil Diamond (without our husbands). We could, and did, act a little crazy. McDreamy ranks a little higher on the list for me. However, I'm with Tina...Tim McGraw takes all.
McDreamy, very nice... ooo I like blue eyes. There was a guy on one of those dentine ice comercials that I really loved to look at. He's a no-name though. I really like the young Tom Cruise, old Tom is kinda creepy, weird, and sceezy looking. Keep the hair short Tom, you're not 19 anymore honey. Liked the young Mel Gibson too, he's really not so bad now either. I dunno, I always liked older guys.
Hey, my favorite man in black was my Dad, when I was young and lived in Parowan my dad delivered coal to people all over Iron county, it was his business, and I used to ride with him in his big delivery truck, by the time we got home from his deliveries he was truly a man in black (soot, of course), It is a lost era... but a great tribute to a man who work like a mule to take care of his family... On thing, his was always shiney clean for dinner and smelled of OLD SPICE COLGNE. and as far as music, he could out whistle anyone I knew, he knew all the top songs and could whistle all the way home....by- the -way, what man does not look great in black!!
that's quite a list of hunks you have there! hubba hubba!
Love this post! I went to the Dirks Bentley concert this summer ... we had front row tickets ... let me just say he wears his black WELL! ;)
