Another bonus from indoor swimming is no sunscreen! I do miss that after-the-beach suncreen smell, though.
- Devon registered for school and will start in August
- We registered Taylor for school too. Her school is new and beautiful. She is so excited! She may even ride the bus...we'll see.
- I have had 3 fitness instructor interviews. All 3 hired me. The first interview was very interesting. He wants to trade my skills for a gym membership??? The second has a strong need for a Pilates, dance, and step instructor...however, the pay is 50% less than what I was paid in California. Bummer! The 3rd interview was 45 miles south of where we live. The opportunity is great and the pay is 52% more than what the pay is here...however, the drive is a killer! Oh, what to do...
- I also applied to substitute teach. I thought all substitute teachers were required to have their degree (which I do), however none is required here. As long as you pass the background check you're good to go. Some place we're in, right?
- Tomorrow we're going to pick apricots from the church orchard. I've heard the FLDS often come over to pick them too...that should be interesting...more on that to come...maybe Devon's mom can teach me how to make home made jam!

Life in Utah is probably a lot different than California life. But truly, it isn't THAT bad. I guess it will just take some time to get used to.
Love the goggles!!! Dude, if you run into only of the FLDS you totally have to tell us about it, so interesting. I don't know if I would want to drive to St. George to teach with all the high gas prices I can't imagine it would be worth it. Even though being in "civilization" aka St. George might be nice.
I agree with Darci...maybe an outing to St. George is just what you need! Your kids are such good swimmers...I can't believe Blake is already swimming! I wish we had a next door pool to go to every day!
Blake looks dang cute in those goggles, he is a lime green super hero!
Kirk, Carrie and I were in St George one time at Walmart and a van of the FLDS pulled up and all the kids and Moms piled out. Carrie asked us why a school would take a field trip to Walmart. So we had to explain to her about the weird groups here in Utah!
and I remember the days of being in St. George as a teenager. My niece and I would go down the the movie theater and be starred down by the men with their ten wives looking for their next! I HATED IT!
How neat you teach fitness classes. No wonder you look so dang cute!
I find the substitute teacher thing kinda funny!!! I remember one time the PTA president called me in the morning before school started needing me to substitute Annie's class that day:) I wasn't able to that day, but I was surprised how easy it was to be one!!!! I think it could be a lot of fun...especially if you could be in your kids classroom!!! Plus I think the pay isn't that bad either:)
Sorry I forgot that Annie was logged in:)
This is Aly
I think that being a sub would be fun but hard. I couldn't do it but I think you would be wonderful. Fitness instructor sound like a HARD choice between good pay or close to home. Good luck. I am so glad that I haven't had to job hunt for over 8 years. I love working for The Home Depot. I work as much or as little as I want and my boss, the Store Manager ROCKS. Picking apricots sounds like a lot of FUN, I would love to learn how to make jam also. That would be CRAZY to run into some FLDS memebers. I wouldn't know what to do. You'll have to update us.
I love the pic's of Blake swimming. My kids LOVE the googles and wear them sometimes even if we are just running threw the sprinklers. CRAZY KIDS!! YOu have to LOVE them:)
Love the swimming pictures! That's great you have a pool right next door.
Good luck with the job decision. That's a tough choice.
Hope things get a bit back in order. Moving is always crazy!
I bet it is nice to not have to sunscreen the kids. I get really tired of that. Blake looks so old and cute in his goggles.
I think you need to take your camera with you everywhere you go. I need you to share handlebar mustaches, FLDS people, Utah hair, etc. Robyn Daynes used to live in Cedar City and she agrees with you that things are very different. I love your blogs. Keep them coming. By the way, thanks for all the nice memories you left on my blog. That was really nice and was nice to remember all the fun times. You are such a great friend.
Oh honey, I feel your pain. Those first few weeks after a move you feel so displaced. Not yet in your rhythm, not knowing too many people, it's the worst. Hang in there, it will get better.
If you're debating the St. George commute, you might as well consider the Provo commute as well. 45 minutes south or 3 hours north. The choice is yours. At least your kids have each other to play with. And it looks like they're having fun at it, too.
Hi, I know your mom from being in the same ward in Fullerton (my husband was in Optometry School). She is such a sweetie. We had a baby soon after we moved there, and she was one of the few people who brought us a meal! I check your blog every once in a while and decided to de-lurk because I feel your pain! I grew up in Calif. and lived there while my husband was going to school, had my two kids there too, etc. We just moved to Utah back in Nov. and I just feel like a piece of my life is missing. Summer just isn't the same without the beach! And I agree, indoor pools just aren't the same. I also substitute teach, and it isn't too bad! Good luck with everything. Hopefully things will look up soon!
What pictures! Blake looks like the next generation Johs Davis! :) I love the picture where he has his arms up in the air! Way to go Blake!
Sorry, I meant to say Josh Davis.
I love the idea of substitute teaching. Mainly because you can make your own schedule. Nothing is better than having the choice each morning. I love the pics of your cute kids..
How old is Blake??? He is just growing up too fast! That's what happens with the youngest! The goggles are GREAT! Too funny!
I loved hearing about your apricot picking experience. It made me homesick for Utah! Yes, Utah!
Hi Kimberly,
Your blog is cute, and you sure do a great job documenting your beautiful family. I was reading some of your recent entries as I wondered how my life is going to change once I move to Washington. We are going to be surrounded by Scott's family, too. I guess it is just going to be different, like you said.
that is great that you got offers from all three places. Tough choice though. Good luck!
We sure miss you. Church is not the same without you and your kids.
Kim,
remember when you and Jim played together ( I think you were 3yrs old) I found the two of you in an embrace and kissing each other on the lips. I think I swalled my tongue and ripped you apart. You kids were so cute... I miss those times!! Jim is trying to get ahold of you. If you need his phone call me. Love ya Pat
lov'n those goggles
the no sunscreen battle thing would be kind of nice sometimes! How great to be around nice family. It sounds like you are keeping yourself pretty busy!!
