Home Sweet Home, Or Is It?

We have arrived! After loading up the truck, cleaning the house, and squishing everything that wouldn't fit into the truck into our cars, we waved goodbye and hit the road. After ten hours in the car, with three small kids sitting side-by-side, listening to the DVD player play non-stop, driving no faster than 65mph (in order to keep up with the moving truck) and worrying about Devon driving the moving truck, we made it and we are unpacking! Now that we are here, this is what we have experienced since:

You know you are in SMALL town Utah when...

  • Everyone who shows up to help you move is wearing a duck hunting hat or some kind of hunting apparel.
  • There is no need to rent a storage unit when you have the front yard.
  • There are miles of houses with chain link fences.
  • People consider running over a prairie dog "good road kill."
  • The person through the drive-thru window speaks English.
  • A parked car, in the driveway, always has the keys left in the ignition.
  • You hear lots of "oh my word," and "oh my heck."
  • A matinee is only $4.50
  • You can buy 85 Octane gasoline AND gas is .65cents cheaper.
  • Almost all businesses are closed on Sunday.
  • When you run into the DMV lady at dinner, she remembers you, and says hello.
  • The main store, in town, is Walmart.
  • Your throat, nostrils, and lips are no longer moist. Rather, very, very, very DRY!
  • Grandma is a few feet away from hugs, kisses, morning pancakes, and lots, lots more!

Sounds like Cedar City, all right! I hope the adjustment isn't too difficult. Instead of the ocean you have wide open land, instead of sage green you have some nice shades of brown, and instead of coyotes you have deer. I can't wait to come down and see you!

How funny!
Welcome to what they call "God's country!"
Probably the best part of the whole move is grandma being close!
Can't wait to see pictures...after the things come off the front lawn!

Oh, I still can't believe it is real. You are so funny. That totally sounds like Utah. It took my nose two days to feel normal again after our trip and Nicky had a bloody nose when we got back. It is really dry. You guys are going to have to get some hunting dogs and some cats for the kids. I can't wait to hear more. I hope you will grow to love your new surroundings. We miss you.

LOL, even though I am totally jealous of Mom being so close and cooking for you.

YAY, you made it! Moving can be so horrendous! Glad everything went well. Unpacking is the worst, isn't it? Welcome to Utah (and small town living)!

Glad to hear that you made ok!! Ceder City that is great. I wish it was a little closer but we will still have to make some plans to do something. Kennedy and Taylor would have so much fun playing. Yuba that is so FUNNY. I will have to talk my parents into having your family out for a day at the lake. YES we are still BIG waterbaoters. Chad bought a boat last year and my parents finally got after 20+ years also bought a new boat last year. What is Devon going back to school to do? How is Stacey? I would love to get in touch with her again. When you hear from her next please tell her that I said HELLO!! Well this comment is a little long I will email you later. Hope to hear from you really soon!! P.S. Where does Robyn live now?

You have arrived! I know your pain with the largest store being Walmart . . . Hmm, I thought Cedar City was bigger than Leesville. Good luck unpacking.

Glad you're there, and in one piece. It will be fun to read about your new adventures. Enjoy those pancakes and hugs while you're there. Maybe we can get you out here for some grits and biscuits. Love ya!

You make me laugh! Though I hope it really isn't that bad or it might be a harder transition than I thought! It took me a long time to get used to the dryness. My nose was sooo sore for a few weeks. And people say that San Diego is a desert! Anyways- so glad you are closer, even if you are still 3 1/2 hours away. Can't wait to talk to you!

Wait, there's a city where all the fast food workers speak English? I didn't think that was possible ANYWHERE anymore.
