It Pleases Me!

It is no secret. Devon loves a good shoot 'em up, action, suspense, thriller type movie.

And, it is no secret that I prefer a good love story, comedy romance movie or musical!

But, of course, every now and then we have to compromise.

Devon really got his movie fix the first two weeks that we were here. To name a few, we watched, "Hancock," "10,000 B.C," "Vantage Point," and "Dark Knight."

After watching "Dark Knight," I was really depressed and needed something uplifting...

In my opinion, there is no better way to be uplifted than by watching 4 nights of Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth Bennett...in the words of Miss Bennett, "Think of the past as its remembrance gives you pleasure." Oh, I think that I shall be much more amiable to be around now that I have watched this and that I shall go around speaking like an English woman for as long as my family can stand it! It does please me so!

Over the weekend Devon took me to see "Mama Mia." I loved it! I found myself singing all the words, along with the cast, in my head, during the entire show. I couldn't wait to get home to pull out my old ABBA CD.

You are the dancing queen, young and sweet, only seventeen (du dum du dum du dum)!

If that doesn't put you in a good mood, I don't know what will!

These uplifting movie picks would not be complete without "Sense and Sensibility."
Aaahhh, it's like a breath of fresh air...I can breathe again, it's so nice!

Now all I need to make this experience complete is the fourth Twilight Novel...only 4 more days!

A couple of my friends and I saw Mamma Mia yesterday. It was so good! I think I smiled through the whole thing. Lots of fun!

Me, I like both!!! Probably because of Devon and Dad. I heard that Mama Mia was not good with Pierce and Meryl???? There is nothing as good as a chick flick.

I knew we were meant to be friends! I love those movies, although I am still waiting to see Mama Mia. Enjoy the uplifting moments!

I LOVE Pride and Prejudice. Is there anyone sexier than grouchy Mr. Darcy? I can almost hear you talking in your British accent. I wish you were here and I would introduce you to "Two Weeks with Love." If you ever find it, it is the cutest, romantic, sweetest musical movie ever. You would love it.

Thanks for the birthday text. I can't belive you remembered given you have no RS newsletter for reference. How thoughtful is that! Could you be any nicer?

My DH would NOT watch the movies your husband watched! He's a romantic and would watch all of the movies I LOVE! I know, I'm lucky!

I agree with you nothing leaves me feeling better than a good old fashion chic flick.

I have seen Mamma Mia now THREE times, with plans to go again next week with a friend. I took Hannah (you should take Taylor, she'd love it!) and even SHE'S prancing around the house singing 'Dancing Queen.'

Oh, and if you close your eyes when Pierce sings, it's not as bad.

Whoops. That would be me, and not McKay that has seen Mamma Mia three times. Didn't realize the kid had snuck on here and signed in. Wonder how many blogs I've commented on today as him?

You are a girl after my own heart! I am the BIGGEST fan of romantic movies and novels that take place in the olden days. Jane Austen rocks! I could watch them all in a one big marathon and not leave my house for days!

We've wanted to go see the Dark Night, but you are one among the others who has said that it's very dark... hopefully not too dark?

And by the way, Emma does speak Finnish. Since George served his mission there, we both speak Finnish to her. She is going to pick up the English anyways later.

Yeah...what's with our husbands always picking the macho movies? I'm glad Devon's letting you pick. I really want to go see Mamma Mia. Want to come see it with me on my Bday???? I wish you were here!

We do need our chic flicks every so often. Mama Mia is cute and I love the songs. I liked Hairspray better but maybe because it was my "era".

We also went to see dark knight, I hated every minute of it. Dave said I spent half the show under my jacket. Wish I had stayed their longer. Give me a chick flick anyday.

You guys sound just like Chuck and I!!! I feel for ya!!!

You have always loved musicals! You were the one with the hairbrush in hand singing all the songs.

As far as the Twilight series goes, I'm finishing book number two. I'm a little behind, but hope to finish soon.

Love Jane Austen movies! Kevin is a pretty good sport about watching them with me which makes me feel extra guilty about complaing about his movies. I promised to see Dark Knight with him but I may have my eyes shut through half of it! I keep hearing about those Twilight books. I'm going to have to read them!

Wow- You guys have seen a lot of guy movies! It's nice that you are seeing movies - wonderful to live with grandma and grandpa! I would had to lighten up to. If I watch something unsettling I have to watch something else light and happy before I go to bed. I am sadened to say that I still have never seen the Pride and Prejudice mini series. I eye it lovingly at Blockbuster, but never have the time to devot to it. I am jealous! But I do love and have Sense & Sensibility and Emma & the other Pride & Prejudice (which I like). Love the post!
