Luke's Cape

For weeks, Luke has gone back and forth trying to decide what he wants to be for Halloween.

When he decided he wanted to be Darth Vader, Grandma offered to make him a cape.

When she told Luke she was going to start making his cape, Luke immediately started drawing up plans of his own.He brought grandma tiny little drawings of what he expected his cape to look like. When he presented his instructions to grandma. His instructions were filled with buttons and holes and all kinds of intricate designs.

Grandma was extremely impressed with Luke's design, but told him it was too hard for her to make and so she was just going to make him a simple, black cape.

When the cape was finished, I, excitedly approached Luke and told him how cool I thought his cape was.

He said, somewhat disappointed, "Yeah, I know, but she didn't follow my instructions!"

The next thing I know, he's upstairs, cutting fabric, gluing buttons, cutting holes, adding rope, etc.

So, this is Luke's cape...he designed it himself, and followed his own instructions! It's a little too small to wear, but he is so proud of it!

"...but she didn't follow my instructions." That's priceless. I can't wait to see your kids in their costumes. What are Taylor and Blake going to be? And I think it's pretty funny that Luke knows who Darth Vader is. Shouldn't he want to be a Pokemon or something?

How creative. I am glad you took a picture of it. I watch other craft blogs with envy when they show their first creation that their mom saved. I started making things with my mom's scrap fabric when I was little. I wish I had a picture.

I love the story. Luke sounds so much like Braxton. Braxton is being Count Dooku for halloween and due to my lack of sewing talent he asked his aunt Melissa to make it for him. He had lots of idea of what it needed to look like. And thank goodness she made it just like he said otherwise I could he him saying " But you did make it right". TO bad we don't live closer they could go to together and be the dark side of Star Wars!!!

I love the cape!!!

Oh man, that his hilarious! Did he use new fabric or the cape she made for him?

Max loves Star Wars! I am shocked he didn't want to be something from Star Wars too...he went with Iron Man:)

I love how he was not deterred when the cape didn't turn out how he wanted. "If you want it done right, ya gotta do it yourself!" But Darth Vader? He's already Luke; he could be Luke Skywalker!

That is the cutest thing I have ever seen! That is so awesome that he knew just what he wanted and did it himself! I love it!

You can't fault a guy for knowing what he wants. How neat that he is confident enough to believe he could make it himself.

That is precious. What a determined kid. So creative at such a young age. I love it! Oh and thank you so much for your offer. That is so sweet. We would probably be passing through. I don't think driving 4 hours could warrant an overnight at that point, although I would love it. Are you guys staying in town for Christmas? Maybe we can see you guys on the way back?
