The Musical of My Life

It is no secret that I Love Musicals! I have so many memories where the moment was better because there was music in it.

For example, I can still remember playing my parents Neil Diamond, The Jazz Singer, record over and over and singing along with a hairbrush in my hand.

Family road trips where we listened and sang along to Bread and Gloria Estefan.

My first Tiffany tape, "I think we're alone now..."

Dancing in the basement to Paula Abdul "Straight up now tell me..."

Church dances, "I wanna thank your mother for a butt like that..." thank you Salt&Peppa.

Driving around with Devon, in H.S, listening to Chicago over and over again. "You're the inspiration."

Dancing around my kitchen with the kids, while making dinner. Especially when Luke refuses to bounce his head around because he says it will "mess up his hair!"

The list could go on and on. With all of my memories from childhood coupled with music, I thought my life deserved a playlist. So, here it goes:

  • Kindergarten to Jr. High
Bread: It Don't Matter to Me
Gloria Estefan: The Rythym is Gonna Getcha
Neil Diamond: Love on the Rocks
Tiffany: Saw Him Standing There
Paula Abdul: Straight Up
New Kids On the Block: Be My Girl
Milli Vanilli: Blame it on the Rain
Grease: Summer Lovin'
  • High School
Bush: Glycerine
Salt&Pepa: Shoop
Mariah Carey: Hero
Chicago: You're the Inspiration
Shania Twain: From this Moment
The Judds: Had a Dream
  • College
No Doubt: I'm Just a Girl
ABBA: Dancing Queen
Guns'n' Roses: Sweet Child of Mine
  • My Life Now
Kenny Chesney: There Goes My Life
Dierks Bently: What was I thinking
Bon Jovi: Make a Memory
Carrie Underwood: American Girl
Phil Vassar: In a Real Love
Lonestar: Front Porch Looking In
Toby Keith: Taliban Song
Taylor Swift: Our Song
Trace Adkins: Hot Mama and You're Gonna Miss This
Michael Buble: Everything
Britney Spears: Gimme More
Paula Abdul: Dance Like There's No Tomorrow
Natasha Bedingfield: Love Like This
Fergie: Clumsy and Big Girls Don't Cry
Troy and Gabriel: Everyday (HSM2)
Snow Patrol: Chasing Cars

Music always makes life so much more enjoyable and fun, don't you think? So, what's your playlist?

I have been so uninspired by music lately, nothing new has come out :(

I am glad I am not the only one who likes Britney music. I think we are alone now is on my blog that has always been one of my favorites.

I was just thinking along these same lines. I keep hearing songs that aren't that great and are really old on the radio. I keep hearing this one song from the 80s that always reminds me of my oldest brother's first financee. They got so close to getting married that we even had tacky floral bridesmaid dresses. When they broke up, we had to wear them to church. It is so funny how one song can remind you of something like that.

What part of your life does, "Gimme More" remind you of? I had that on my workout playlist and eventually took it off because it made me feel a little dirty. Good song but a little bad.

Melissa: I got addicted to that song while I was doing my dance training for 24Tease. It is just too fun!

So lots of my life's playlists would be the same as yours! What a fun idea...maybe I'll steal it for my own blog!

I don't know if I will put together a playlist but you got me thinking about how music makes us remember different times in our lives and what we were doing.
My friend and I are going to St. George this weekend and we have tickets to see the Beach Boys, a big part of my younger days. Thanks for making me think about the music in my life!

What a most excellent list! I love this idea. And I STILL rock out to the Jazz Singer on occasion. Good stuff there.

Should I be worried about Hannah's musical life because I heard her singing, "Doncha wish your girlfriend was hot like me" in her room the other day? Yikes.

I think I've got a lot of those same songs on my playlist, too. Just add some Weezer and that'll be me.

There's nothing like music to bring back good memories! Fun list! I don't know if I could remember all the songs from Jr High and High School, but I should try. "I Think We're Alone Now" was one of them....but not sung by Brittany! You guys probably didn't even know it was a remake!

I love hearing a song out of the blue that brings back a flood of memories. At my sister's wedding reception last weekend, her new husband chose out "Forever Young" for their first dance. Wow. She said it actually worked out good though cuz she was nervous and once she heard the song she just laughed the rest of the time.

I love this post! Music is the very best and helps to set the tone- I don't know how many times I start crying when I listen to songs- I'm a dork! I remember Spiritual Night at girls camp always came together when we found the PERFECT song! Love your playlist!

Great Memories are surrounded by good music! When ever I'm totally alone, which is very, very seldom, it's music I turn on, while I was going through cancer tretments especially, but of course, I LOVE Primary music if a need a kick back into the spirit. Many of my memories are about good times, good music and spiritual times and good music!! One of the reasons I've always loved you Kim is your love of music. Love you,

Hey! I finally got an account so that I can post comments. If you ever star in the Musical of your life on broadway, can I play the supporting role doing the Paula Abdul "Straight Up" dance? :)
